The tangible holiday giveaway with you are sooooo beautiful | shop local

This is part three of the holiday giveaway featuring local products perfect for under the tree this Christmas, and I’m thrilled to spotlight something treasured in our home. Authored by Leanne Power, “You are sooooo beautiful” should be in everyone’s library!

Why is it so difficult, even for people with otherwise high self-esteem, to feel truly beautiful?

The problem is not that we aren’t beautiful, but that most of us have learned a definition of beauty that is limited and skewed. True beauty isn’t the collection of unrealistic physical ideals that the media loves to promote. True beauty is embracing who you are at your very core.

I love this book. But more importantly, my girls adore it. As a mom, I’m always striving to find a medium to stir up real conversation about the important stuff. Dialogue that will help to instill confidence in who they really are and empower them to deal with life’s struggles. But let’s face it, some of these intentions get lost on a busy schedule, where each day turns into the next and we relay on the old adage of there’s always tomorrow.

You won’t see this book collecting dust under the bed or on the bottom of the toy box. (You can read more of my thoughts here.)

You Are Sooooo Beautiful holds a precious and timeless message for readers of all ages. Share it with your children to help set the foundation for their understanding of true beauty. And let it help you—and the other beautiful adults in your life—reconnect with your inner child and set your beauty free. How many opportunities do we have to counteract that false and superficial message? Each time you read this book, is one of those precious opportunities.

Where can you purchase this book?

We all know too well the daily pressures of our society, bombarded with the media about the importance of outer beauty. To revisit the message of embracing our uniqueness on a regular basis, all on the initiative of my girls is a gift.

A gift that is sooooo beautiful.

In love with Leanne and her amazing messages! Would recommend to everyone and anyone with children in their lives. Beautiful gift for all little ones needing a great story, a beautiful message, an important lesson to life.
Thank you for Maureen of Tangible Moments for highlighting a great Edmonton local author and her amazing book. LOVE!

I think this is a remarkable idea, and as someone who works to prevent and stop bullying in Alberta on a daily basis – self-esteem is a key component that we need to all have to be able to stand up for ourselves. I don’t have any children yet, but every child I come into contact with will know that they are soooooooo beautiful!

Mau – this is beautiful. that word doesn’t even cut it for me. Thank you for being an advocate for my message, for your cheerleading and simply for YOU. xo
How i plan to purposefully reinfoce my childs inner beauty is by praising the things she does without having given thought. by stopping, bending down and being in her world for a moment and acknowledging her amazing perspective on EVERYthing. xo

hey mau, i might be too late, but here goes:

my husband and i are in the (years-long!) process of teaching our boys the beauty of mutual kindness and respect… because really, all true beauty is something shared; it’s relational.

love you girl.

I would love to win this to share with my daughter! As someone who delt with many self esteem issues growing up I plan to constantly acknowledging her inner beauty and not focus on the exterior beauty.

Alexa - December 17, 2011 - 6:20 pm

I like both on Facebook!
